Professional Goal

My work seeks to understand the internal and external factors that influence human physical performance, exercise motivation, and persistence in order to design collaborative exercise technologies that enhance training experiences. My work integrates principles of exercise and behavior management, with a focus on promoting autonomy, agency, and sustained engagement through actionable physiological data visualization.

Some broader, more sophisticated questions...

  • How can machine learning algorithms be trained to recognize patterns and anomalies in live biofeedback data during a workout, alert athletes in real time, and provide actionable recommendations?

  • How can biofeedback (heart rate, for instance) be used in the classroom to help quantify stress before, during, and after emergency drills (e.g., lockdowns, active shooter simulations, fire alarms) and correlate its potential impact on academic outcomes?

  • What strategies can be employed to effectively educate athletes and coaches on interpreting live biofeedback data and incorporating the data into their training and competition plans?
